Fishing Hooks
Fish Hook is another device used for fishing. It is one of the basic tools connected to the fishing line. And it is often attached with the bait or lures. Hooks used in fishing are found in variety of sizes, shapes and styles. The selection of hook depends on the length of line, lure or bait and the size and specie of the fish you are going for. Well the selection of hook, most of the time, plays the key role in your success of catching the fish.
The hook is utilized for catching the fish in order to spike in the mouth of the fish or sometimes, it is used to hitch the body of the fish but it happens in rare cases. In order to select the right hook for fishing, first we have to view and examine the structure of fish hook.
The hook has the point which provides the connection to the fishing line or fixes the body of the lures. That point which helps in joining the line or lure is normally called as the "hook eye". Ringed, needle, looped, and tapered are some types of the hook eyes. But most common are ring shaped hook eyes. The "barb" is designed some how to hold and influence the power of the hook in position once it penetrates the mouth of the fish. The "point" is the tapered or conical end of the hook. It is the sharp part of the hook that enters the fish’s mouth. The point is vary in shapes depend on the design of the fish hook. "Shank" is the part in between the eye and bend of the hook. Actually, shank is the length of the hook from the eye point to the bend. Shanks are of various lengths from short to long length. And the "gap" is the size of the bend in a hook from the shank to its point. The gap of normal size is work in most of the situations but the use of wide gap in some conditions possibly will not be rejected.
The above mentioned are some of the features common to all fishing hook types. The variations on these characteristics are result in more than enough hook styles, shapes and sizes. Each type of hook is some what different in shape and bend. The gap size of the bend is huge in some hooks or some are found with long shank based on the design and style of the hook appropriate to the kind and size of the fish. The changes in the fish hook sizes are determined by their numbers. From the smallest fish hook size for small fish to the largest size of hooks for big fishing are placed in the market.
Coarse And Freshwater Hooks: The hooks which are perfect for coarse or fresh water fishing are hooks without the barb. The barbless hooks treat the fish with care so as not to injure them. The barbless hooks mostly used in the "catch and release fishing". Weedless hooks would be used when fishing in grassy areas.

But most of the hooks are used for fly fishing are not barbless. Normally anglers used the hooks, barbless or not, matched to their fly fishing techniques and make them successful.
Lure And Bait Treble Hooks: These are manufactured by affixing a single eyeless hook to a double hook and soldering all three shanks together. They are applied on all varieties of artificial lures as well as for the broad range of bait applications.
Sea Hooks: The hooks, better for sea fishing, are circle hooks. These are guarantees more catch, because they have the minute gap and the reverse point. They do not hook in the gut just the lip. The forged hooks are also used for sea fishing as their sides of the bend and shank are flattened to make the hooks much stronger for deep sea fishing.

Fishing Swivels
The swivel is, used in fishing, a small tool having the central pivoting part with two or more eyes as the rings. The major purpose of the use of fishing swivel is to avert the twist of line during line retrieval to avoid the unwanted tangling or knotting. The swivels are used between the leader, or lure and the line. The different shapes of swivels, each with specific purpose of preventing the line tangling, are found and available for fishing.
Barrel Swivel: It is the superb terminal part for attaching the leader to line, because leader is heavier than the line. So, this swivel shape is perfect to use for untwisting of the line. It works great in certain situations.
Crane Swivel: This swivel shape is often used in most of the fishing techniques. This is the derivative of the barrel swivel design. Instead of outside cover, the end eyes terminate inside the barrel of the crane swivel. It is quite economical and works best in most of the fishing situations and circumstances.
Ball Bearing Swivel: With the numbers of internal ball bearings, this swivel on the whole manufactured to offer anti-twisting qualities along with the greater strength and durability. It allows the leader to twist freely under pressure and mostly used in big game fishing.
Snap Swivel: It is most probably used to provide the connection between line and leader. The snap swivel is perfect match for attaching the wire leader.
